Teaching

I teach interdisciplinary courses grounded in the analysis of literary and cultural texts that cultivate sociocultural awareness, historical knowledge of racial formations, and critical inquiries into the structural conditions of the present. My syllabi span the fields of performance studies, American studies, Asian American studies, comparative ethnic studies, gender and sexuality studies, media studies, visual studies, and critical and literary theory. I interweave critical analysis with creative exploration to familiarize students with a range of methods and frameworks that best suit their interests and learning styles. My courses emphasize the analysis of art, literature, and media as it allows for students to unpack dense theoretical concepts or sociopolitical issues and explore the potential for the aesthetic to actualize alternate worlds and forms of relation.
